I have a hen I got yesterday who I noticed had bubbles in her eyes yesterday after being here for about 3 hours. I also noticed I could hear her breathing and when I opened the pen and touched her she coughed/sneezed. She has her beak open most of the time. I thought it was from moving her. She was in a open top box in my van with ac for all of 10 minutes for the move. They walked around the run for about 30 minutes and found the coop. They went in and I have not seen them come out since. I was told to put poultry cell in the water and did. But the water is in the run so when I closed up the coop last night I put the water in with them but can't tell if they drank or not. I checked them this morning and she seems the same. I also put a little food in with them last night because it is also in the run. It looks like they may have ate a little. The only other thing I know they ate was a small handful of meal worms when they got here about 9:30am yesterday. Any suggestions on what else I can do to help. I looked for antibiotics and was told I need a prescription. Should I get them out of the coop and in the run? I live in South Louisiana and it is in the 80's.
UPDATE: I kind of made them get out of the coop earlier and they both started pecking the grass. I got a little hand full of meal worms and the worst one ate a good bit. Then they both drank some water and the not as sick one ate a little feed. They are still out. I will continue to check on them. But it did make me feel much better. Now after they drank when they bent to peck the ground some water came out of their beaks. Not a lot but enough for me to notice.
