Sneezing chicken with no symptoms

Great Thank You, Started the electrolytes yesterday, she has not been eating well since we brought her home. I was thinking about the yogurt or cheese this morning. As for the ACV, what dose should I use for 1 gallon? Thanks for your help and concern. My children said Thank You as well.

1Tbl per gallon is good...it's approximate as you don't need exact.

Not eating well indicates illness. All birds I have transitioned may be anxious about new surroundings to not lay but have settled without missing a beat with the feed bucket.

Edited to add....make a mash of the feed and add some yogurt to it. Scrambled eggs with cottage cheese is good for a convalescing bird.

Just found out that she's been on a different brand and type of feed. The place it comes from is around the corner so I'll try that. As for the yogurt she was shy of it at first until I put some cheese on it, after that she was good. Gave her some fresh cabbage and she went for it too. So I deduct she will eat just not my feed. As for the eggs will that give her a taste for hers when she lays?

Feed her some scrambled eggs or diced, boiled eggs every day until she gets her appetite back. You can mix a little feed in with the eggs too. They won't associate cooked eggs with raw eggs.

The sneezing might or might not go away. I have two Rocks that were sneezing when I got them, and still sneeze everyday I think, but have no other symptoms. I thought it might be caused because their beaks are trimmed, but I don't really know. I did a lot of research before letting them join the flock, and didn't find any reason to worry about the sneezing alone. Could be a genetic thing, allergies, I dunno. They are all healthy and very happy.

Ditto what Toddrick said...just feed scrambled or cooked, never raw, as in crack open a shell and let them eat it as that could encourage egg eating.

I have a few birds that sneeze occasionally too. I think it is dust related...which is why I suspicion your unused dog run.

But then I've had illnesses begin with just sneezing, and in a week somebody else is sneezing then gets sicker while the first bird just sneezes and gets a mild case. I had Infectious Bronchitis go through the flock that way, from a gently nicking bird I brought in, isolated (but not enough down wind), who only gently sneezed then stopped while within days I had a major breakout after another gave a gentle sneeze.

It is always good to err on the side of caution with a mature bird that you are bringing into the flock, especially if you've got AI in the area. (We just had a big scare out here in Oregon too).

I want to say sorry ahead of time for the lengthy post and asking basically the same things everyone else is. I just want the details clear so help will be easier. I've recently purchased a 6mo old pullet, last Sunday. She was fine with no problems on the way home and no problems for the first 2 hrs. I'm keeping her in an old dog run that hasn't been used in years. There is an old doghouse that was full of pine or cedar shavings that had been in it for years as well. I wasn't ready for this bird but had to move fast to avoid missing out, (rarely can you find coop ready chickens in my area, chicks or used up hens are the norm). So I cleaned the shavings out, (didn't sanitize as I should have) and put her in a separate run away from the others. Almost instantly she started sneezing. So 2 days later I moved her to a separate spot. I've been told it could have been the dust. 2 days later it started raining (heavily) and she didn't sneeze as often but is still doing it. She shows no signs of disease, (crusty nose, eyes or swelling of the face or anything) after reading all I can I'm now scared for the others due to unknown illness. What I've gathered is she could be contagious forever, or possibly need to be put down. Avian flu here in NC is supposed to be so bad this year that all chicken sales have been suspended and no poultry at the State Fair. I've also been told don't treat unless I know what I'm treating for. Being a first time chicken owner I'm stumped without symptoms. Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions? Tommorow will make a week since getting her and no let up from sneezing. I'm crossing my fingers that she will be ok. Thank You for reading and any replies I may get.
