Two weeks ago I purchased a bantom chick from Tractor Supply. It was the only chick left so I took it and then began a hunt to find some buddies for it. The chick had pasty butt and when I got his six bantom friends home the next day I noticed that two others had pasty butt as well. I kept them all clean and warm and also provided the probiotics/ electrolytes from TS in their water. The original chick did not get better and as the week went on declined and eventually passed away this past Saturday. Before passing I brought it to the vet in a last ditch effort and they proscribed antibiotics. The others were happy and appeared to be over the pasty butt. On Sunday I noticed one of the chicks sneezing and now it seems they all are. I switched from pine shavings to aspen because the pine was very dusty but the sneezing continues. I asked my vet for advise and he said I could try the antibiotics he gave me for my other chick. I've read conflicting reviews on antibiotics and was wondering if anyone has advice on how to best treat these little guys. The sneezing is frequent, I haven't noticed any liquid discharge but it seems like maybe there is some dried up discharge on one of the chicks. They are very happy and active otherwise. Thank you!
