Forgive me for posting this here instead of the illness forum but I haven't gotten one single response there, and this is a big problem. Wobbles has been sneezing and shaking her head for days, and after three vet visits they can't find a single thing wrong. They refuse to give her antifungal meds and I'm out of money, I can't afford to keep up these constant vet visits.

Her energy is fine, eating well, the only problem is this respiratory thing. I've got her in a clean plastic brooder, no shavings, I use distilled water and she's eating starter crumble exclusively. I even went and bought an air purifier to be on the safe side, and she's still sneezing and shaking her head so I don't think it's environmental.

I really need help.

What does her sneezing sound like, is really loud and does she stretch out her neck when she does it? Has your vet checked her for parasites, if not it might be gape worm. Commen symptoms of gape worm are loud noises that sound like them gasping for air or 'gaping', (I personally think it sounds like loud sneezing) and also they will shake their heads and scratch them and you hear a gurgling sound when she breaths. So to me it sounds like gape worm except I don't get the wobbling. If it is gape worm Id give her some ivermectin and DE. ivermectin Will kill the larvae and the DE will kill the adults.

There's no gurgling, vet check yesterday said that her lungs sound hunky dory. Also did a poop analysis and they didn't find anything there, either.

Here's a video of the behavior, maybe this will help shed some light:

Have you tried putting ACV into her water/ give her something to dunk her head into to wash her nares out, mix up 1-2 Tab of ACV into a gal of cool water . Did the vet check under her tongue to make sure something wasn't stuck there ?

Will she wash her head? you could also place some warm water into something like a dish pan with ACV into it and see if she'll wash her face good that way but it would be better if she can do it any time she wants.

Yup, she's got a water dish deep enough to dunk her whole head in - which she does. :p She spends a lot of time cleaning and preening, but not with the vinegar. I'll try that now.

Have you ever seen this, though? The sneezing/head shaking without any other symptoms?

Be sure to get ACV with mother. I'm sure as much as i have been on BYC this has come up but we'll need to go to search I'll do that now. It almost make me think something is stuck somewhere.

I've got lots of apple cider vinegar, I checked my cupboard and I forgot I'd made gingerbread cookies recently!

I'm unsure of what you mean by "with mother" though. I am the mother. :p

There is ACV that contains the Mother it's in the natural form and unpasteurized. but reg will work for now. ACV works as an antibacterial and a tonic so it may help just depends on what's going on but at least it's worth trying.Matter of fact i just used a gallon of ACV reg that i bought at the store and I could see the mother floating in it. so some do have the mother. even though they don't say they do. Have you ever seen Braggs ACV?

Ohhhhh, ha, I feel dumb. Never heard of it but I'll see if they carry it at Whole Foods or PCC.

Thing is, they've already given her antibiotics, to no avail. They offered to give her a full spectrum test and culture and give her antifungal treatment, but I can't afford this anymore, and I just don't know why they haven't found the cause after nearly a week has passed. /sigh

I'm sure Whole Foods will have it. here is some info http://poultrykeeper.com/health-suppliments/apple-cider-vinegar

How is her appetite? what type of bedding? has anything changed at all since this started?

And don't feel dumb please.

okay since she has been on an antibiotic the ACV will help with any tummy issues since antibiotics kill off good and bad bacteria.
