Hello,
I have a concern about my three five-day-old ducklings. My ducklings will not stop sneezing and I am wondering if they are sick. As of now, I am putting electrolytes in their water to try to help stop the sneezing. I have been doing this for about a day now, and I have not seen any changes. If anything, the ducklings are sneezing more!

I am not sure if this is normal for ducks and ducklings because they get their sinuses wet all the time. However, I know that when a chicken that sneezes constantly, it is not a good thing. This is making me a little bit nervous.

What is really strange is that I let them swim in warm water in the sink, (and they LOVED it) and they cleared out their sinuses. After the bath, they were not sneezing much at all. However, about two to five minutes after I dried them all off, I noticed they were sneezing again.

If you could give me any advice as to what is going on, if anything, that would be extremely helpful and appreciated!

Thank you for your help.

Welcome to BYC! What type of bedding are you using? Dusty bedding could cause sneezing.

I don't know, what kind of bedding are you using? Are you still using a chick waterer? Nows the time to switch to a deeper waterer so they can dip their noses in. U can try a milk jug with a hole or cool whip dish with a hole in the side.

Since ducks like to noodle around a lot with their bills, I find they get stuff stuck in their nares. Then they will try to blow it out forcefully. If you give your ducks a deep dish and one of the first things they do is snort into the water, then they are getting stuff stuck in it.

Hello,
Thank you all for your helpful replies!
As for the bedding, I am using a pine shavings. It is a little dusty, though.
The milk jug is a good idea (for the water), however, I think the chick waterer is deep enough that my ducklings can dip their beak in up to at least their nostrils. Thank you for the idea. I will be setting up the milk jug and using it in the next few days because they grow so fast!
