I looked out the window and saw the icky thing in the carport. "Chicken snack!" I thought to myself. I offered it to the backyard flock.

No takers.

I offered it to the ducks. They cocked their heads and replied "quack."

I took it the the front yard birds.

I think they tasted it, but declined.

Dumb birds.

mine don't eat slugs either, and I think I remember reading somewhere that they can pass on some sort of parasitet to the chickens who do eat them.

I think slugs don't taste good to them. I saw a couple in my yard last year and like you, thought they'd go ape over them. A couple did pick one up but quickly let it drop back to the ground and wouldn't try it again, leading me to think she didn't like what she tasted.

Pardon the shout, but WHY ALL THE BOASTING ABOUT BIRDS KEEPING PESTS OUT OF THE YARD?

There.

Now I feel better.

LOL!
Well mine eat all bugs BUT slugs, and the black and red stink bug things. They even run around chasing mosquitoes in the air!
