Snow Pheasant died

Today when i went out to give water and feed the birds i witnessed a shock. My snow pheasant had died, i just could not believe my eyes

. I loved that pheasant so much i was looking forward to the spring so i would get some eggs, i dont know what to do now. She was doing so well i dont understand why this would happen to me, i'm always outside caring for them and this happens. I'm not sure if it was the cold or something else. If someone could help me out as to what i should do, if anyone had any snow pheasant eggs i would be happy to hatch some. Should i maybe start hatching eggs next month for eggs by late summer?

Thats rough Birdman. It could have been a number of things though so I wouldn't blame yourself. There are Snow Pheasant egg auctions going on right now on eggbid. For eggs this spring. Why don't you hatch out some more?

Have you already found eggs? Most people's pheasants unless in the deep south are done laying for this season. March seems to be about the time they start.

I feel for you, I have lost birds in the past and it is not fun, hopefully you can get more though. It is hard to say what may have happened but one thing that got me was worms. I thought they were wormed when I bought them, but it turns out they were not. The females just kept loosing weight and I didn't notice until it was too late. Best of luck.

Sorry I wish I'd known, I just sold my last 6 snow pheasants. I would have offered them to you. Oh well, good luck on your future hatch.

I've been pretty depressed today over the loss of my pheasant, she will be greatly missed. But i know that i have to move on and start again.
I'm thinking of getting some hatching eggs maybe next month if possible. The one thing that is unique with the Snow Pheasants was that they have beautiful blue eyes. Their are other breeds that i might also try, i might try some goldens since their smaller than ringnecks. Although i'm sure they would fight with the ringneck pair i have now. I remember ordering live adult bobwhites awhile back through the mail and a few of them were dead so i'm not too sure if i should hatch the eggs myself or order adult pheasants for my best chance for eggs next summer.

Yep, i'm looking to get some more i love pheasants a lot, i feel so happy and excited when i'm around them, their amazing birds. I will say i havent ever had a problem with worms (knock on wood) but i could imagine what the birds must be going with that although it isn't quite the same as mites which irritate the birds feathers and bite their skin.

Again thanks, you guys all helped me very much to get through this difficult day. Words couldnt express how appreciative i am.

Birdman, I have 5 hens and 5 roosters. I'm not sure if these are real snows though. I was told that they are Alaskan whites. They are also white with the black speckled plumage. I'm not sure if these are the same and just called by a different name. My birds won't start laying until April but I can help with eggs or chicks if you need them. I bought them from a friend and he can tell me where he bought the chicks. E-mail me if interested and I can send pics of mine and info on buying chicks.
