Snow, what do Your hens think of it this year ?

Mine have been out already in the snow we've gotten so far... they were far from impressed with it... Yesterday, after our second snow, I went in the run to feed them, check their water and for eggs... I left the run, with the gate open so they could come out, and they all followed me. By the time I put up the bucket in the basement, the brahmas were on their way back in the run. By the time I put away the two eggs, all but 3 were back in the run. LOL It took 5 min more for the rest to go back in. So total, they were out for 15-20 min. So not interested in this white crap. lol

My path I made to the kid play house at the other end of the run ( 30 feet) and they finally started to come out and roost in there during the day.
WHY it took 4 days for them to do it I don't know. It was warmer out the first 3 days.
We are in the Teens and they are hangin in the playhouse for part of the day, then a little roaming in the run but mostly in the coop.

Finally had to plug in the heated dog bowl. The top 2 of 4 inches was frozen but I could still get the jug from the middle out. Will have to see how un-frozen it is this morning since it was 14F over night and only 20's yesterday.

So funny some of your hens :)

I opened the door up for my hens they saw the snow and stayed in the coop but only 2 ventured out and then came running back in.

My 22 week old B.o. girls are NOT liking the snow at all.
I wish I'd had my camera ready when I went to let them out the morning of the first snow last week. They usually RUN down the stairs and out the door into their yard. On the 1st snow day, they Ran down the stairs and came to a screeching halt and stuck their necks out and stared at the white stuff...it was SO funny.
Since then, we've had 8 inches of snow, and they are not fans. I shovel a path around and they have gone out a couple times, but stay in the coop all day. I worry about winter boredom if theyre gona keep that up?

Since they got over their fear and can see the ground, mine go to the kid playhouse and roost.............even when it was 14F outside yesterday ! I was shocked.

I wonder if it is not wanting to walk on the WHITE.

But I so know what you mean when you say "screeching halt and stuck their necks out and stared at the White stuff"
