What started out as a nice snow storm turned in to an ice storm. Spent most of the night without internet because most of the community had no power, but our power wan not off long.

I has to go out in it an do some work. It was a mess. I have driven in every winter storm that we have had sense 1995 an that was the slickest I have ever seen the roads. We have had way more snow before an we have had way more ice but this was worse.

I think it came down to an inch of solid ice on the roads covered with an inch of very fine ice pellets. Part hail an part freezing fog. It was like driving on ice an marbles at the same time. I only had to drive about 3 miles but my truck was pointed the same way I was going for less than a mile of it.

Fun but far from safe.

Hang in there. Just remember, nothing is more important than YOUR safety. Remember the order of importance in your FF training? You, your fellow firemen, then the citizens we're trying to help. (ya, I know we don't all do what we're trained

Got some storm pics. We were stranded in the Sequatchie valley all night. Every road up the mountains was blocked by flipped cars and tractor trailers. What a mess! Finally got up this morning and ran into several trees across the raod. DH got out with a 6 inch drywall saw and hacked away until we could get through.
I love the way the chicken wire looks like it's coated with galss.

Yes- those are all different trees. Thank god when we got to the last one somebody showed up on the other side with a chainsaw. Power just came back on- but don't think it will last.

Take care everybody!
