After it was dark, Lark and Finch started out. They ran to a two legger home, where Bernard lived. Bernard was a large horse with a talent for swimming. Lark walked up to the paddock.
"Hello Bernard."

"Hey there Lark. Is your lovely sister here too?"

"Yes, Finch is here."

"What do you need?"

"Finch and I are traveling across the river and we wondered if you want to come with us."

"What do I get out of it?"

"Fresh grass, a good swim."

Bernard pricked his ears and scented the air...

"There's someone hiding behind that bush."

Lark turned.

"We found you out! There's no use hiding now. Come on out." He called to the bush. Finch ran to his side and stared at the bush too.
