So… is this a wild or escaped/set free/ domestic rabbit?

I gave it pellets and it liked them a lot. 2 raspberries and it wondered what they were till it ate them. I offered hay but it didn’t eat it for some reason

I do not buy hay labeled for rabbits.
It is so much cheaper to buy hay labeled for horses.

I would imagine that if it stays and lives in the yard like it currently is living that it probably won't be around for too long before something eats it.
Yep. Unfortunately you see more dead rabbits then alive ones here. Roadkill, hawks, eagles, etc.

Around here I’ve only seen squirrels. Once I saw one but thought it was BABBIT until the wind blew :sick

Once there was an eagle flying by with a fish. Two hawks/falcons swooped in and made it drop the fish. It fell on the road, then a car came by… the hawks landed in a nearby tree lamenting their loss of food

The BABBIT is here

Should I try catching it now
I would probably put a small amount of pellets for it to eat, and see how it acts.

If you want to let it out each day and shut it up each night, you will need to be able to catch it regularly-- so getting it used to eating in a cage (or something of the sort) would be the first step. But if you close the door the first time it goes in the cage, it may not want to go back in for a second try.

I gave it half a raspberry and put the other part in the cage. I also put a *few* (actually few) pellets in the cage. Hopefully it goes in and sees it’s ok later so I can start catching it soon. It doesn’t seem interested in Timothy hay :/

He/she seemed sleepy/tired just now… it was sleeping under something

He/she went in there a couple times, he seemed a bit wary of it but it’s a start. How long do you all think before I fully shut him/her in?
