Today is day 21 and I looked under the broody and saw one was pipped. Since it was her first clutch, and I keep them ten miles from home, and her nest is 18 inches off the ground, and she is in a pen with three other hens and a rooster running around, I pulled her eggs and put them in a bucket with a layer of bermuda hay and carefully set them in there the same way they sat in the nest so they wouldn't get turned, and put a thick handful of hay in there on top and hurried to the car, and drove home and put them in the hatcher I had all set up, temp right, humidity right, and set them carefully in there and the first one out was a black one. Second one, lavender, third one, lavender... So far, I'm liking these odds!!! THANK YOU Dutch Chic!!! I am already well rewarded and there are three big pips and four more waiting to go. Cross your fingers for me that at least one of the Lavenders is a roo!!!
