So are Hatching Eggs worth it?

Yes- a lot less angst than dealing with shipped eggs and the incubator itself, especially if hundreds to get into a model you'd want doesn't make sense for the number of birds you can house. Still, if you find someone who seriously breeds them, you can find some very nice birds that way... but personally, I'm just looking for chickens that get along well together and lay enough eggs to continually sell. As a hen goes broody, I'll give her eggs to hatch. Until I lost my blue rooster unexpectedly and needed to take advantage of the week the hens were still laying fertile eggs, thus, the incubator. My focus is chicks that ultimately produce fun colors for the egg cartons- while they don't taste any different, they are an impressive sight... especially next to grocery store eggs. =)
