sorry, I have to side with the OP, some guys are just lacking common sense!
Case in point. I have mastiffs, some times I fostered them, and this one male (mastiff mix) and my female (Cane Corso) didn't like eachother and would fight if they could get together. SO my DH, knowing this fact... and in all his wisdom didn't pay attention to who was out and the dogs got into a fight.
We're talking dogs twice the size of pitts, with the same drive. Now anyone with common sence, and since my DH doesn't have any, I've had to tell him to NEVER get into the middle of a dog fight EVER.. so DH grabs the male around his neck........ and gets nailed so hard that his ulnar nerve and artery get completly severed! Has to have major surgery and PT to repair. He almost lost complete use of his hand.
He's ok now........ so fast forward a year to this last weekend. Same male dog (doesn't like males or other dominant dogs)... he purposly let this stray beagle(intact male) out with our male.. the Male is posturing over the beagle (I knew what he was doing).... I saw what was happening and said "w t _ are you DOING" to my DH!!! SO what is the FIRST thing DH does.. starts to grab the male by the neck......... I had to tell him to stop and step away. I looped the leash over the male and pulled him straight up away from the beagle. The dog wouldn't have attacked my DH, but he would have gone after the beagle because of the way my DH handles situations. He's not only, not dog savy at all.. but sometimes he just seem so dense and oblivious to things and severly lacking in common sense.
I don't nag my DH about anything. Except his driving and I have every reason to be a white knuckle rider considering how many vehicles he's totalled (using that same skill he has with dogs).
