I have a splash Orpington hen Picasso (she is about 15 months) who rarely ever puts herself to bed. I have only found her on a roost, twice. If I am late to lock up, she will lay just inside the coop door.
When I do finally get around to locking up her coop the main coop it is usually late, way after dusk and all chickens are in bed but Picasso.
Picaso, likes to greet me, walk in front of me back to the coop and then go into the coop. I then follow her and pick her up, setting her in an empty spot on the roost.
Here is an older picture of her during the day.
Video from last night - it is so dark, you can hardly even see her:
eta: HA I won!
