Update home from work and been watching the egg cam all day lol we have so far hatched 12 of the 24 eggs in there and it's only day 17 will any of the remaining 12 hatch or will this be it?

I'll preface this with: I have never hatched quail eggs. Have you watched the How to Improve Your Hatch Rate series on YouTube? He's hatching quail in the videos, he takes the hatched quail out when he needs to as quickly as possible and resets the incubator and is able to get more to hatch.

This is my 1st batch of 24 eggs. So really happy that on day 17 I have 14 hatched .

No. 14 arrived after a traumatic hatching poor thing and he survived the night. Amazed at the size difference 8 hours between hatching makes. They are all doing really well and am very happy with the hot plate seems to be doing it's job perfectly. I have put it at a slant to accommodate size differences. And put socks around 2 of the sides to keep the warmth in. All in all very happy.

This little chap is a totally different colour to all the rest he/she was the first hatched and as you can see bright yellow! The parents were all brown the same as the rest of the chicks. Is this normal? Will it stay this colour ? Oh and I love it's little markings on its back...just so cute.

So, to avoid this wondering, next time you incubate you can candle them at Day 14 and discard any that glow green/yellow as they will not hatch. Eggs you can't see into will have chicks in them.
