Hello!

We are so excited to bring our 6 baby chicks home from a private doner (is that the right moniker?) in 2 1/2 weeks. We've done our research, reading and have a nice big run/coop in the making.

TODAY we fell in LOVE with 2 small chicks in the BLUESEAL brooder.

What would be the ramifications of bringing two of these guys home and then trying to integrate with the very new chicks soon to arrive? The 2 BLUESEAL chicks looked about 16 days old at most.

Help! We are in love but don't want to start a problem right off the bat!

THANKS YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!

I have a grow out pen for my babies. I let them out with the big girls when they are a couple of months old. Always will be a little squabble here and there..but they do fine, especially if they have their little buddies to run with. They need room to be able to get away from a possible bully.

Hi and welcome to BYC - you have some great advice already so I'll just say hello!

All the best

BLUE SEAL is a feed store around me. It's a chain, but quite reputable I think.

I would have to keep them in different brooders No?

You could try and put them all in there, watch, watch, see how the others do. My guess is, the older chicks will be afraid of the new chicks..that's what I've seen at first. lol....if, they come around, and are fine with the new ones..ta da..If, they pick on them, then of course, different brooder. They aren't that far apart in age, so give it a go.
