Definitely not. In order for them to race they have to be trained to 'home'. So if you let them out they will surely return where they originated.

Well, they never did leave, but last week the breeder called me and told me she'd sold the wrong pigeons to me. She had accidentally sold 3 of her son's 4-H pigeons instead of the 3 she had intended to sell. She apologized to me and I told her she could come a pick them up. She reimbursed me for feed and gas to meet her and her son looked pretty relieved and happy.

I just have one blue barred cock left, but I did a good thing by giving them back. I was a 4-H'er once too.
