Last night I put a daddy longlegs spider in with my baby chicks, some 2 weeks old, some 5 days old. I couldn't believe they ran from it! LOL I had put one in a few days ago and they fought over who got first bite but this one they ran from. Whatever corner or side of the brooder the spider went, they ran to the opposite side. It was soo funny.
The only difference I could see in the spiders was that the first one was as greyish brown while the one last night looked redish. I did have one chick go and peck the spider off the side of the brooder but before and after that, that chick stayed with the others.
I have ducklings out in the run and last night they were running and jumping and trying to catch fireflies. It was so funny, they are so gawky.
