My husband and I have been raising chickens for over 4 years now, and have been figuring out a lot of things on our own -- I sure wish I'd found this site back then, but for now thank you Google!
Right now we have 67 chickens: 35 adults of various ages and numerous breeds; and 32 chicks home-hatched in June (using both broody hens, an incubator and one very busy Barred Rock roo).
I'm also an herbalist and massage therapist -- chickens LOVE massage
-- and have successfully used all kinds of remedies on our flock, so am always interested to hear what home treatments other people have used.
BTW PollyWaddle is not my name, but my favorite "shiny object" girl. She's an Ancona and the alpha hen, and most times she sees me, she comes over for a massage. Even if I'm late for work, I can't resist!
