Until today, we just had an open dish for food and the water dish was on a block alone, about half as high as the block you see below. My hubby put this together for me today. We were going to use a 5 gallon pail, but with only 4 hens, we decided this Tidy Cats container would work fine. It leaves more room for food in the pan. The pan under the water is the one I was using for the food.

Think it will help keep their food and water cleaner?

Looks good, hope it helps . I have my feed hanging from a hook and chain so they can eat but not put there feet in it or knock it over, I have never seen food out of the dish lol, they can not dump it or scratch it out, it's hung and to high for that. Also the water is high on bricks, they can drink it but it's to high for them to knock over of scratch stuff in it.
