So I finally attended my first poultry show!

I attended a small (I assume) show this past weekend. Learned that I have never actually seen the size of a standard Orphington or Cochin! Lol...those suckers are huge! And that Langshans are one of the most beautiful chickens I have ever seen. There were only 3 Ameraucana (my breed of choice) probably all from the same breeder (P, C, &, K) but I was able to see how my own juveniles compared to those in shape and balance. Overall a good experience....but I wish that I wasnt so shy and could have asked more questions! lol....next show...I promise...

It is an amazing experience. I think most people at shows are willing to share knowledge.
IMHO, a lot of judges today don't stick strictly to the standards in the SOP but lean toward bigger birds.
You may find that these winners are heavier than the SOP. I don't show but I like going to shows.
