So I have this THING in my shirt....

Ridge, I'm sorry for your losses. All told, I lost a dark brahma hen (don't think that one was a hawk, way too big), my last remaining SF, both silkies Jethro and Ellie Mae, and both polish, Ozzy and Pearl.

I have two new roos, a phoenix mix and a cochin/silkie X. The cochin especially seems very protective and a good watch roo.

Cute chicks. My two little ones in a brooder in the living room worry me because they are so quiet, but I'm told that's normal with only a couple of chicks.

They won't make much noise ever. They need most of their breath for fire breathing.

No seriously, these two are extremely quiet. So far, the only time I have heard loud peeping from them was the other night when one lost track of the other in the brooder. It was peeping and peeping until I went over and reunited them. Been all quiet since.

My last chick, I only had one, and it sounded like a smoke alarm most of the time, unless me or someone was sitting RIGHT next to it. This time, I have 2 babies, and they don't say a word. You have to really listen for those quiet little happy peeps. I guess, only one, or a zillion will make noise. Just a few, and they are happy little clams ;-)

Yep, I check on these two constantly with them being so quiet. They seem happy as a lark.

I've got a loner silkie chick and it used to chirp it's little head off till I started carring it around in my shirt pocket for a few hours a day. Now it's about a week old and it's so used to us it will chirp and somebody goes and gets it. It's standing on the mouse pad now staring up at me. I have some oegb/btb jap mixed chicks hatching and I put one in the brooder and little spoiled brat was being mean. So it's with me now pecking at a freckle on my arm. While the other one is getting itself a drink. I'm thinking the sikie is a boy and I know the new one is. Maybe why it went after the intruder.

because it wasn't drying in the incubator. It wasn't supposed to hatch until tomorrow. DH was supposed to help me finish getting a brooder ready today, but fixing our gas line took priority over everything else. Now DH is out riding his motorcycle and can't hear his cell phone ringing...dang harley!

The thing is, I don't know what this thing is. The eggs are from pbjmaker and she hasn't checked in with me today. I have severe memory issues so I can't remember what she told me she sent. It looks kinda like a silkie, but....

Sure hope it wasn't the baby dragon Imp was hoping for. It's awful close to some important parts of my body.

Awww. It's like Christmas, with every egg that opens! What could it be? YAY!.... it's yellow. :)

I'd love to sneak a couple of Iguana eggs and a turtle egg, in a shipment of chicks. Tell me that would not be hilarious.

It's okay,. baby dragons are like baby geese. They imprint on whatever they see first. It will not hurt you, or any of your under-the-shirt parts. The problem comes when they get bigger and want to keep following you everywhere with their big scaly wings knocking stuff over, and it's a real mess before they get the fire breathing stuff under control.
Good luck.

Ask me why I can't go to Macy's... The firemen were *really* nice about it all, because they know Imp and now have a truck that follows her around. I told them sometimes stuff is on fire before she gets there. It is probably just a string of coincidences, unrelated to the dragons. They are such a misunderstood breed. Just because dragons breathe fire does not mean they light everything on fire.

I told them... half the time, they are breathing IN.

Please take them out of your blouse before taking pictures.  This is a child friendly site. /img/smilies/rant.gif

NO, NO, oldchick, I disclaim any responsibility. /img/smilies/hide.gif
