Tornadoes are SO cool to watch. You just gotta realize that your only defense is to be well aware of the weather, how fast it can change and what to do when it changes. Otherwise, just sit on the back porch and kiss your butt goodbye.

You can't change the weather...so you gotta be prepared!

I guess, I will not complain about our first winter storm coming where we live.. (It's the first time since they started keeping track that we did not have snow on the ground on Nov. 11 Remeberance day here)

So I was really enjoying this warm weather.. Tonight is our first winter storm.. 10 mm of freezing rain.. Then snow on top!! Woo hoo, glad I am only going about 100 km, round trip tomorw!! That beats the 300km trips!

all I want is a green christmas.. lol

but I will so take that over all the earthquakes, and hurricanes, give me some freezing cold crap! I swear I will not complain to tomorow in my way to work..

Im from little old Rhode Island, and man i love the beach, but this weather changes more then a girl does her clothes. Here we are a few short weeks from December, and this weekend is 65 on sunday! love it but the snows will beckon soon.....gotta put carpet on the peafowls roosts!

I was born in southern California, and lived there until I was 25, excluding 4 years of college out of state. In that time, I was only in one major quake zone. That was when I was 3, and I slept through it. I felt lots of little quivery quakes, but never had to duck for cover.

Anyone in Oklahoma able to say they'd lived there for 20-odd years and never had to take cover during a tornado warning? Just saying... Furthermore, you can make a house pretty darn earthquake proof, but I don't think it's possible to make one tornado proof.

Bottom line is that EVERY place has its natural hazards. You just have to be aware of them, educate yourself, protect yourself, and not live in denial. Probably also a good idea not to build your house in a flood plain, for example! Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, and in all things trust God.

I will take my seldom foot massages over a tornado, hurricane, etc., anytime. Earthquakes like San Francisco in 1989 are rare. That killed people. Not a lot, but one lost is enough to be called a disaster. Usually the big quakes, which ARE rare here, do more damage to property than people.

I grew up in CA, and my thing with the earthquakes is no warning! I live in GA now, and we have days to weeks of warnings for hurricanes, and at least 30 minutes or so for a tornado. But with the earthquakes, you're just minding your own business, then the whole world is shaking. Give me some notice, please!
