Two weeks ago, I had shipped eggs set to hatch under a broody. Only 3 had made it to the end, and I decided that wasn't enough for them to stay warm and happy. So the day before they were supposed to hatch, I went to the feed store to buy 6 chicks to keep them happy. I got to the feed store, thinking I'd buy sex-links or some fabulous layer, and came home with 6 blue wyandottes, 6 giant cochins, and 2 light brahmas. All of them are likely to go broody on me! Only one hatched under the broody, so at least he/she has 14 sisters. Right???
And, I hate to admit it, but I have 16 more bantams coming next week from Ideal. 4 blue silkies, 4 GLW's, 4 black frizzles, and 4 sultans. Where in the world will I put them?
Tonight I've been sitting on here reading about crosses people are doing to have a sustainable meat/eggs flock. And I'm fantasizing about the next breeds I'm going to get to start that glorious sustainable flock... I need dels and NH reds next.
And I haven't mentioned that I already have 31 hens and 3 roos outside...
This is ridiculous. Luckily, the only negative thing my hunny has said to me is, "This is getting a little expensive." Then he gave me a hug, and told me that's why he loves me.
