so many issues. broken leg, curled toe, walking on hocks

I rescued 2 baby chicks from a child care center, they where going to be killed but I said I would look after them. So now I'm stuck with 2 wimpy gimpy chickens, I have fixed the curl toe, I have strapped the broken leg. One is now walking on one hocks and one foot, I have put a bit of bandaid on the hot so she/he dose not scratch it. His foot seems fine, he responds to pain in the foot, he can also move the toes. Why is this happening? Is it just a deformity or am I doing something wrong? I have never had chickens before and seeing as they are a rescue I was not prepared to have them. They are both eating and drinking, no paisty bum or other issues
