So many losses, so many missing, upset...

My concern is not the cats. We have strays, they go for chickens, they go to the Litterpan in the sky. However, the attack was not the work of the cats, they just enjoyed the open bar. If you don't predator proof the pens, it will just happen again.

To be clear, the cats were only shot because they had birds and it was out of reaction more than anything. There's still catfood on the table, but fresh meat is appealing I guess. I know they stalk my younger birds, so I wasn't taking any more chances on losses. I had spent the past year trying to rehome them, with no luck... Even after they were fixed.

Also, Blue is now pacing the house whining. He keeps looking to the back door (which faces a forrest) and barking. I go check, nothing to be seen. Pace, pace, bark... Coyotes are bad this time of year. Possibility? Even though the birds were spread out down the driveway, opposite side of the property to the woods?

Yep.. it could have been a couple of coyote... ugh
and if so... thank god your blue is still alive...

From a sticky for this forum:

*Although some ways are not considered ideal to some, it serves the purpose of removing the offending predator. If you have an idea or a helpful comment, please do reply. If it is a sarcastic comment about the disposal or capture of a predator, please keep your thoughts to yourself. We are not here to judge one another on methods or ways and means.

*If you wish to suggest an alternate non lethal means of control, please share it in a non judgmental way that is a viable solution and not merely complaining about who was here first etc, IF it is directly related to the OP's request for assistance. If a non lethal alternative is offered, please be appreciative and remember that there are many ways and means and flaming a member for suggesting such an alternative will not be tolerated.
