so much blood! help, prolapse??? - *graphic pics*

we've been putting a sort of prep - h cream on and it does look better but is still protruding and has gone a dark red colour as opposed to light pink. there was a lot of blood again today (not sure if she caught it on something?) but we washed her up again and shes happily pecking around the quarantine room. im gonna give her a week to get it back in...she cant stay like that forever...

well its been just over a week and the hen is still with us....her prolapse is still there but the majority has gone back in itself, just a tiny penny sized blob is still sticking out. im hoping a few more days of prep h and honey will solve it

the guy brought round a replacement hen and offered to cull this hen but i told him id like to give her a little bit more time.
just thought id update for all those who gave advice

I just picked up on a prolapse on my little silkie hen yesterday but there was an egg I could feel which she layed later on in the day and the prolapse looked gone when I checked her. Today I checked her again and she had a little prolapse so I decided to take all the advice I read and brought her in for a bath and put some honey on her vent. I now have her in a med dog crate that is covered to prevent much light from getting in. I did put a heat lamp in the area of the crate as I read to keep them warm and we keep out house about 68 degrees. I am going to put some prep H on her vent later. Is the red heat lamp considered light that would make her want to lay? Also, I do not have anything but layer pellets right now so I hope that will not do much damage. I'm hoping that if I catch this early (as the prolapse was just a small amount of pink skin) I can let it heal up and prevent it from reoccurring. She has only been laying about 2 or 3 weeks and her eggs are small. Didn't want to start another topic as this was really the same thing.
I sure hope your hen recovers. You really had a bad case to deal with but maybe with all the loving care she'll be good as new. We all love our chickens!!

What does honey do? This is such an interesting thread, thank you OP for sharing and posting pics. As people help you, you and them all help all the rest of us. Sorry about your chicken. She's really pretty.

The honey supposedly shrinks the membranes and helps them go back in because they are smaller. First time with this problem so have no real opinion on it. I am going to use the prep H as well.

It is a good think he showed up with a replacement hen that was great, but I suspect he knew all along she was having problems hence his sale of her to you. I think that with your treatment she may get better in the short term but these things do tend to re-appear so keep a close watch as I am sure you will, good luck to you.
