I posted guess my breed earlier this week and while the others were identified, these guys not so much. I took some pics today, they are all kinda different. I was told from the lady I got them from Black Australorp. But in the other thread someone suggested black sexlink or black star.
Here's the first one:

#2 This one has blueish eyes?!

#3 This one is mostly black but has reddish/brownish tint.

So what do you think? Are they mutt's? lol

What color are the bottoms of the black and white one's feet? I believe white bottoms are Australorp, yellow bottoms Jersey giant. (but I could have that backwards)

The black one with brown does look like a black sex link.

I will have to check them in a bit. Baby asleep in my lap right now. And I think we will go with black star. The Family will be less likely to faint when my 3 and 4 year old come up and say we have black stars.

Well if the bottom of the feet are orange-ish two are yellow then they are not Australorps or Black Orpingtons, so that would leave them to be either Black Giants or Black Sex-Link.
If the lady that you got them off of thought they were Australorps and the breeders were all Black I would say that they are Black Giants.
I would say that she may have got the breeders from a hatchery. She may have ordered Australorps, but the hatchery shipped her Black Giants.
It happens all the time with the Black Orpingtons, Black Giants and Australorps. It will all so will happen with Buff Orpingtons and Buff Rocks...

We have 2 black sex-links (I go with "black stars" for the same reason you mentioned

). One has a lot of brown, the other had a bit of white/yellow under her chin and at the bottom of each wing when it was fluff but the feathers are all black now, except for some of the typical brown tipped ones on her neck/chest. I'll have to check the feet color...legs are brown on the browner one and black on the black one. I *think* dark legs usually come with BSLs, but maybe it's not that predictable since they are mutts.
Darling either way! Do your kids love them? My 2.5yo can not keep his hands off of them!
