he broke my bought one last night and had to bodge it just to get it to heat to 92, so i dont know if any of my eggs will survive.

today he made me a bigger better bator, its not finished just yet but it is looking good.

im not going to put my set eggs in there as i wouldnt know if it was the new bator or the broken one that ruined the hatch, so im gonna leave the already set ones in the broken bator and when the new part comes it will be back up and running normally and ill have to wait and see what is going on inside those shells.

anyway, he said he could build me a tilting tray mech so i dont need to physically open the bator and turn the eggs. what does it need to do? how much to they need to turn? at the mo my eggs are on their sides and get turned 180. what do you think would be the best way to have them to be turned? assuming that i will have to put the pointy end up/down in egg trays or something, how much force do you think it would take to tilt them the other way?

im confused!!!

EDIT: to ask if i would actually be better off just keeping static trays and turning them myself by opening and turning?

I put my eggs in egg cartons with the small end down and then turned the 2x a day M-F and 5x on the weekends. I only tipped the cartons to about a 45 degree angle. I took them out for lockdown and laid them on the floor of the incubator on their sides. Some people hatch in the cartons as well, I will do that as well next time.

Here is the turner I made for mine. The ends of the PVC pipe poked through the front and back of my incubator so I could turn them without opening it. On about day 7 I decided that maybe I wasn't turning them enough so I would prop up one end of the incubator about an inch, as well as turning the cartons.
