So my pullet is a Roo.... now what?

Wow. Daddy looks remarkably like my EE rooster, Carl, who was also an accidental roo.

Here's his close-up.

And he's a great rooster.

Here he is announcing something roosterish while he stands guard over my first GrandChick (and his first-hatched progeny) and the BO pullet who hatched it. (Not the one who laid the egg - momma is also an EE ).

Don't huff and puff about your accidental roos. With them around you won't need to buy any more hens. Without them there would be no eggs!

drumstick diva - My brother and I rarely see each other, and if we do there isn't a lot of conversation. Pranks were the least of things....

I do eat store bought eggs.... and I plan to eat the eggs from my hens, but I may have to seperate some of them from the rooster at first. But I'm a big girl, I'll work through it.
Those are awesome roosters! I hope my guy grows up to be that beautiful - and Junior is a stunner (looks like he knows it too!)

bigchicken2 - I appreciate your intent to educate people about roos... but the fact is some people just can't have them. Some people don't have the time / experience to keep a rooster in line / keep family safe from him. And some people just don't want roosters. Because I am concerned about the apparent growing number of roosters in my flock doesn't mean I am "huffing and puffing" ... if you check the title of this very thread, I am looking for constructive feedback on how to give my rooster the best life I can, because I have no idea what to expect from or for him. You get better results with encouragement and pointers than coming across as a finger-wagging scolding.

I got 9 Barred rock (4 roo) 5 Buff Orphingtons (2 roo) and 3 RIR (1 roo). That is tloo many roosters. I plan to get down to 1 or maybe 2 roo> I understand that they fight amongst themselves. However, I do want to raise some chickens if the hens will go broody. They are all 13 weeks old, so I have awhile to go. Want to get at least 1 bantam hen. I understand that they will sit on most any kind of chicken eggs. Roosters are usually more colorful than the hens
