It sounds like it will work.

I only have to clean my pond out every 3 days, and it is thirty gallons and I have four ducks. Surprisingly, they aren't in it all of the time, like I thought they would be.

I have a 50 gallon stock tank in my run and a 200 gallon kiddie pool in my yard. The stock tank in buried in the ground (this is nice in colder weather as it doesn't freeze as fast). I use a sump pump with a 100 ft hose attached to empty both. I was originally going to put a drain on my stock tank but in order for it to drain properly I would have had to attach a very long drain pipe, because my yard doesn't have a steep grade. I like using the pump and hose because I can move it every time to water a different plant. The ducks also like to play in the water, which is kind of gross.
