Haven't raised any chicks or ducklings since I was young on my grandpa's property. A few weeks ago my gf asked to get a few ducklings to raise and we did , bought 3 ducks from Rural King. One of the ducklings was sick and we didn't recognize the issue fast enough and we lost two ducks a week or so after bringing them home. The sick duck has survived and is on antibiotics, nutra drench and electrolytes. I bought a book on Raising Ducks, researching every aspect of farming ducks and I felt so bad for the 2 ducks who passed , when my gf bought the ducks the lady or guy at Rural King that was working in the duck and chicken Dept didn't give her any advice or help in any way on Raising the ducks, and me as some one who had experience raising animals in the past , I still had a problem identifying the sick duck... Sad in Indiana.

What area of Indiana??? I’m in southern Indiana and our RK gets all chicks from Hoover hatchery....I’ve had good luck with everything but pheasants from them including 2 ducklings (1 Cayuga and 1 Rouen) purchased in last month......I only kept them in brooder for 2 weeks+\- and then integrated them into the aviary and they have grown like crazy!!!!

@Jzasadzinski - First off, deepest sympathy for your loss of those other babies. I am so sorry to hear of their not making it. Try making a forum topic over in the Ducks section

I hope the forums here and maybe some searches into BYC past forum topics can help you tend to the other baby. And looking hopefully to the future as someone else mentioned- I hope that little peeper pulls through and can find some friends!

Welcome to BYC :welcome
