My FIL witnessed the tour and was looking at me like I was crazy. I threatened to move the grill a little closer to the chicken tractor every day until I got an egg. I'm getting desperate over here!

At 22 weeks, my first EE to lay, Kiwi (named after the shoepolish) has finally lain an egg! It was a lovely rich green, and the brat left the yard to go out in the driveway (!) in the middle of the city (!) to the hay bale, ignoring the 8 fluffy, hay-filled nestboxes her sisters all use!

She could have been eaten by a dog, a cat, or a hawk, run out in the street, or poached by a passerby. The jerk went back in the yard and I found the egg later without knowing it had happened! Found it yesterday afternoon...hope it is followed by eggs in boxes...rotten pullet.

Positive note: it's my first green egg, and my kids were delighted!!

I guess that's why they ask....."Why did the chicken cross the road?"
