So....talk about.....CANCER SUPPORT THREAD !!

to you Lunachick.

I had a hysterectomy in '94. Mine was done vaginally, which means they leave the ovaries and tubes. Mine was not do to cancer though. I had mine because my bladder and uterus kept falling out. So, my bladder was operated on too, to be 'stitched' back into place and have the sphincter muscle tightened so I wouldn't have leakage. I came out of surgery with a pee bag to wear for 10 days to let bladder heal. At the end of 10 days my bladder still didn't want to work, so I had to have it put back in, for a total of 30 days. That part wasn't very fun, but I got used to it, and it actually became handy, being able to pee outside, like a guy does! lol
Other than that, surgery went well, and I recovered just fine. I am not on hormones because I still have one ovary left. The other one was removed at a later time due to multiple cysts.
Be strong. All your chicken friends are here for you.
Lots of prayers, thinking of you.

Luna, many friends will be there in spirit with you today. Information is a powerful thing, find out all you can and forge ahead. Hugs from me to you.

Well, it's either meet with the surgeon today or I'm gonna have to call EC with her rusty scalpel.

You know I kid.

We love ya and you, dear friend, are in our hearts and minds this day lifting you up in prayer to Our Savior Jesus Christ, Our brother, Our friend...may He hear and know our hearts to be true and pure for our friend, Luna, and may the cells that do not belong in her body be suffocated and snuffed out for eternity in Jesus' Holy name we pray. Amen.

Love in Christ's name,
Gretch

I love you guys.

The Dr. is a very nice man. And because I'm basically very healthy and have no problems where I take any meds - he's going to do the minimally invasive surgery. I'm going to have an advanced laparoscopic hysterectomy. They use the daVinci (trademark) robot. I feel better about this already. I will do my homework on that later when I'm home.

My surgery will either be on March 9

or on the 23rd. I will get a phone call today to confirm the date. When I was there waiting to be seen, I kept thinking that this was all a bad joke and that I shouldn't be here. Then I thought of you all rallying for me and that made me feel so much better. All this is happening during our busy tax season at the office and DH was getting over an infection and still doesn't feel better yet. My chicken died a couple of weeks ago, my brother gets his operation on his kidney in NY on the 2nd of March, my daughter has an appt to see an ENT for her sinus problems today and I take my other daughter over to the gyno for her visit tomorrow.
