I am glad they are being thorough I just wish it could be done without surgery! I really don't like going under the knife! But I know it is necessary.
I still don't see how they can remove a piece larger than a golf ball and have things look symmetrical. The Dr insures me that I won't be lop sided but I'm a bit skeptical.

Sorry about yucky contrast drink. Will they let you chase it with anything?
I hope your results are great!!!

Great to hear from you, Burt- wishing you and everyone else a lovely, healthy week!

Thank you Keywestchick~ I have no idea what to expect until I talk with the surgeon, and he's on vacation until next week. I'm trying to prep myself.......but I'd rather hear from BYC people's experience more than just anyone's

My mom had uterine cancer...the doctor she had was doing a pap smear every month for a year and every month would say..."We'll just keep watching it". She started loosing a great deal of weight so....a dr. was recommended to me and I made an appointment and told mom that she could decide if she wanted to go or not. But...I would like for her to really think about it to get a second opinion. She went to the other dr. He did a pap smear and told here the next week she had uterine cancer. When they did surgery it had already started to spread. I was furious with the first doctor. She had surgery the next week and has now been cancer free for 28 years. I know we sometimes never think to question a dr. about things...but sometimes..it is worth doing. I do hope things go well for you Lunachick. Will put you in my prayers. Just keep thinking about all the care and rest you are going to get! Lay back and enjoy it gal.

This is what we are going through with Sara. Her OB told her she needs a total hysterectomy, but her stage is stage 1!!!!! She is only 22. Hysterectomy is the LAST option.

Bless her heart...that is such a young age. The reason they may be wanting to do such a radical surgery is because of the risk of reocurrence. BUT....if there is a way they can do the surgery without doing a complete hysterectomy they should at least give her that option. My moms sister found she had cervical cancer when she was 6 months pregnant. They did surgery without any complications to the fetus. Has she considered contacting the closest Cancer Centers of America?? They are wonderful and not only find the best solution but also use holistic treatments as well as your diet...etc. I just had a biopsy on my lymph node....if it comes back as cancer that is where I am going. I have had cancer once and it is just a thing you can't take a chance on.
Being stage 1 is in the infant stage of cancer...surely they can do something even like treatments to keep from doing a hysterectomy. I think it actually scare some doctors and their first instinct is to get rid of everything they can. Will keep her in my prayers.

Hey everybody!
I survived my all day mapping and surgery ordeal.
Not real keen on that tube they put down my throat to breath for me.
Gave me a very sore throat. Almost as bad as the lymph node incision.
The lumpectomy site is not very sore at all and thankfully, I don't seem to be lop sided.
The surgeon did a goo job of rearranging things to compensate for what was removed.
So, hopefully we will get the pathology report in a couple weeks.
Then, sounds like radiation is the next step.

Anybody here with lymphedema?
Just wondering how long it will be before I know if I have it or not.
Curious what it feels like... wonder what to expect.

Hope everybody is hanging in there! Still praying for y'all!!!
