Thanks for all the welcoming words! It's been a stressful week with my little flock. I went out to greet the girls- we've had lots of rain and one of my Cochins greeted me and promptly dropped a shelless egg at my feet. She has never done that to my knowledge and is a good layer : 3-5 eggs/week. I'm wondering if dusting them all has brought this on. They have a cozy home and lots of space to roam. I can understand this happening from the new pullets or the hen that was infected the most by the lice but this is weird. Would appreciate any further advice on the subject.

Hi and welcome to BYC I am glad you could join us. There could be many reasons that a hen could lay soft shelled eggs/ lack of calcium, starting back into a laying Period, stress, and sometimes they can just slip out I have had that happen a few times before to a few of my hens they can be just setting on the roost pooing and then there is a soft shelled egg laying on the floor covered in her poo.
