This lady thinks that, well here are her words: Caruncle's are not genetic, they are formed by mites biting them, specifically chiggers, I have an indoor Muscovy that wears diapers, I rarely let her out other than the porch, she didn't have any red (caruncles) around her bill til I took her to meet the other Scovy's at the lake, all of a sudden she had em growing like mad until I gave her a bath (I spritz her with a majorly diluted moisturing liquid soap in water, equate liquid milk & honey hand soap, about 10-15 squirts in water sprayer, I also all of a sudden had them in my carpet (borax sprinkled on the carpet kills em) as the chiggers were chewing on my ankles leaving red spots on my ankles, both from in my carpet and every time I went down to the lake. She hasn't had any red (caruncles) growing since and she is almost 7 yrs old now.
Some folks shouldnt own birds.

That is too much, and I agree with your last statement.

She also added that ducks live healthier , happier lives indoors. I hope she never finds a baby bear or so, next thing she will turn him into indoor pet too.

Some people tend to think what makes a human comfortable will make an animal comfortable as well. Just look at horses...they prefer to be outdoors even in the driving rain with their shelter standing empty behind them. I doubt any of my ducks would enjoy a diaper...

Amen. Mine wouldnt come in until it was either hailing or a severe freeze. A bit snow and they still were sitting in the yard or on the back steps.
