I wish & hope for a day when other accomplishments will eclipse the ability of one person to smash into other people & get paid buckets of money.

But, oh, how we love to be entertained - above all. Rather like the Romans, eh?

I have said this over & over: We are a nation that puts celebrity before anything. People will eat maggots to be on T.V. We elevate sports PLAYERS to the status of heroes! The only use I have for Vick is to use him as an example of the lowest of humanity.

Only in the Sport's world does this type of forgiveness happen!! Our priorities in this country is so warped, I wonder if we will ever get our senses back about WHO are the real heroes! It irked me to NO end that when M. Jackson died, you would have thought the whole freakin' royal family of wherever died

. . .but we lose a soldier or more in this lousy war and its talked about a little bit on the news, and the hometown where they were from grieve, but that's IT. What is wrong with us allowing this to happen. . .We use to be such a proud country . . .how did we get so far off track?

We let it happen, by what we buy, what we read, and what we listen to.

If everyone went to the theater and to the museum instead of to the ball game or concert, where would priorities lie, I wonder?

(Not to say I don't like sports or music... I like all four of the things I mentioned).

I agree, this country is in such financial distress, and then you read what some sports person or actor is getting paid millions for acting or playing, and wonder WHERE does it come from!!! I am sick to death of these companies crying broke and having to be bailed out and then show billions in profit. It IS our fault, we put the people up on the pedestel, and vote them into office . . .just ridiculous!!!! If we had someone decent to vote for might help. Our local area is in the same boat though, no one good runs for the offices. We have good people, don't misunderstand, but its the SAME person year after year after year.

we are a military family dating back to the revolution and the Declaration of Independance...I don't think there has ever been a moment of silence in the Senate/House for a dead soldier, but that freaky looking drug addict got one...I wanted to barf...that is just wrong...and the soldiers slog on in all manner of difficulty so that c**p can happen...makes me angry, often...
