Fortunately, I clean the coop every afternoon. DH handled it for me. The nesting box has been removed. The girls wouldnt go in to roost, tonight. I had to physically put them inside.
i believe I know how it got into the attached run. Its been handled. But I'm goung to do even more, just to make sure.

What do you use around your chicken coop? Chicken wire?
Hardware cloth. But I had a new roof added because of an addition to my run, and I think I'm going to add hardware cloth to the underside of it. I "think" the possum got in, where the chunnel meets the automatic doors of the enclosed run. The chunnel was bent, there. So I closed that automatic door and removed the batteries. Trust me - I will be going over the run with a fine-toothed comb.
I found this in my camera files from last night. It had to have gone in just before the coops automatic door closed. My poor, scared girls! No signs of any injuries. I also upgraded to the Wyze cloud for "Events" videos, and signed up for alert texts.
I'm so glad DH was available to dispatch the possum.

I fixed the skirting around the bottom of my raised coop with a piece of steel roofing I had laying around and used 8 cinder blocks to build a new set of steps .The others were rotten. I consider it a blessing its held up as long as it did .I built it out of used lumber back in 21'.Sadly one mistake can cost us the whole flock.Glad your chickens are okay!

I've got possums crawling all over the place because we used to keep cat food out for all our cats. We built multiple catios for all our cats and don't let them out anymore but the possums didn't get the memo
