So, VERY CONFUSED!!!!??

Guessing there was a transfer of dye somehow....on feet or butt fluff maybe?

My sister's EE lays blue, & the inside of the egg is white.
Peel back the inner white membranes immediately after breaking open egg to see true shell color.

There are only white and blue shells.
Brown eggs have brown coating on white shells.
Green eggs have brown coating on blue shells.
The brown coating can be very light or very dark, and can vary day to day.
Then the bloom can add another aspect to the egg color.
Pink/purplish eggs are from the bloom on a brown egg.

None on the feet of the birds. Maybe just a small amount on the butt fluff, but not enough for that much to transfer on several eggs.

We'll be doing the test a bit differently tomorrow, or the next day. We're making sure the food dye exits the vent before re reapplying.
Are you using gel or liquid dye?
Best of cLuck!!
This is the first I've seen anyone actually try this, thanks for documenting it.

Gonna repeat the food dye test tomorrow. Gonna start with the girl who has the leg band, then work my way to the others.

No egg with dye on it today, so tomorrow I should get an egg. She's an every other day layer.
