She also appears to have scaly leg mites.

Hello and welcome neighbor!

Bathing Silkies is fun! Mine just looooooove the blow dryer. Silkies do have a thing about being pampered I swear it.

I'm sorry they came to you in a such a way, but they are a lucky pair to have found you. I have 1 rescue white silkie who was just beat up by larger breed birds for awhile, and 2 black silkies who no one ever handled before I got them. It feels so good to see them all clean and free ranging and getting along so well.

Be careful, I'm betting there are more silkies in your future!

Nice job cleaning the little fuzzy buckets up. They are adorable. I would check them closely for mites.

If they do have leg mites it's easy to treat, just wipe a layer of vaseline on their legs & the mites will smother.

They look so much better now. I sure can't stand it when ppl want an animal and then they just don't take care of it, boy that burns me up. Sure am glad you got them and are planning to take good care of them.

That one looked like it was enjoying every minute of that blow drying. I think I saw a little smile

I've given my chickens baths before. I don't think that they were too happy about it. I used a gently shampoo and even conditioner and dried them off with towels and used a hair dryer at a low setting. They smelled beautiful while I had poop all over me. Once they went outside again, it didn't take long before they were less than pristine again but I was glad that I did it. I can't stand a Silkie that is dirty. I think that those animals that are brought to shows are probably cleaned by their owners. I don't think that I would try this with my Ameracuanas. It would be a fight that would go down in the books!

I was wondering how you got them to lay on their backs...Whatcha do give them belly rubs?

I have a hard time just getting mine to sit still for 5seconds let alone lay on their back (maybe it because theyre not silkies..I need a silky!).
