So what do you do if you hit an animal?

Exactly! I have the added benefit of being extremely hard-headed!

From the sticky in Predators and Pests:

*Although some ways are not considered ideal to some, it serves the purpose of removing the offending predator. If you have an idea or a helpful comment, please do reply. If it is a sarcastic comment about the disposal or capture of a predator, please keep your thoughts to yourself. We are not here to judge one another on methods or ways and means.

This thread wasn't originally about predators, but it has veered off topic into them. The above applies across BYC. Obviously, opinions vary widely on what to do with a predator. Voicing an opinion is fine. Attacking someone because their opinion is different from yours is not.

Thank you.
I was just about to mention that I didn't start this for people to argue.

My sister hit 2 deers . The 1 hit cost 5,000 dollars then 2 hit cost 7,000 dollars and she hit the ditch and almost flip over the both deer was dead . If we hit a deer one more time they will totally it .

Totally feeling bad, since today while driving my Dad's truck into town, a juvenile American kestrel (Falco sparverius) collided with the moving vehicle. All I saw was something gray go SPLAT on the side window. I saw where it landed after the hit, so I stopped and checked whether it was alive or dead. Definitely dead. Poor fellow. Must have been hunting over the corn field I was driving by and ran right into the truck.

I thought of this thread over the weekend when we came extremely close to hitting a dog. DH was driving, we were going through a tiny village we drive through every day on our way to town, and a dog shot out in front of us. You could tell it had seen something on the other side of the road that it wanted to chase by its body language. Fortunately the speed limit there is 30 so we were going fairly slow and DH slammed on the brakes, otherwise that poor dog would have been toast.

It can happen SO fast!
