So, what do you do with unwanted roos?

You are as warped and demented as me!

There's a farm / garden section on Craigslist. It's where I got my three chicks - again, supposed to be sexed, but so far we have one roo - crowing behind me right now! The people we bought our three from are taking him back, and I'm not asking what they will do w/ him.

I took my "exotic hen" who turned out to be an pesky rooster to the local public farm/nursery......they were thrilled and I realized I saved the beasties life before my husband strangled him at 4:45 am.

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention that I'm a vegetarian. Actually, I wouldn't really have a problem with someone else eating them, but I'm not sure what I'd tell my dd. She doesn't seem to be bothered by other people eating meat, and didn't bat an eye when we were visiting a friends farm and looked at her broilers, but it would be a different story if someone was eating one of "her" chickens.

A local feed store buys adult birds to resell. Most of my extra roosters go there. I was actually putting one of my Spits roos into a cage and someone bought him on the spot.

I have also gotten rid of a few on Freecycle.

My preferred method is to give them to a loving family who will be thrilled to death to have a beautiful rooster strutting around their yard.
