So what is everyone paying for their chicken food?

12-13.00 from Fleet Farm. My hubby buys it. I use sprout, it's a cheaper brand, but it works. I give along with alfalfa sprouts, bugs, grass, and fruit. My egg yolks are very fresh tasting and thick orange.

I used to buy Purina Layena at Fitts Mill( now just a feed store not a mill for 65 years) for $15.50 a bag. I was a TSC the other day(1st time to check it out) Layena was 15.49.
I now buy feed from Ventura Grain in 100lb bags for 22.32.

18.99 for a bag of Layena
19.99 for a bag of Flock Raiser

Both were from TSC and Prarieland Feeds in Springfield, Bloomington and Champaign. I love the feed, you get what you pay for. I supplement animal protein from table scraps.

Won't do Dumor, nasty crap and not good ratio for intake of feed and output of manure and stinks high heaven. Local feed mill, forget them too, same results as Dumor.

I would love to try Blue Ribbon, as some tried it......but TSC don't have it yet.

Chick Starter -- 20% protein 11.50 a 50 lb bag
Grower ---------- 16% protein 10.00 a 50 lb bag
Layer ------------ 18% protein 10.50 a 50 lb bag
Breeder --------- 20% protein 12.50 a 50 lb bag

All the feeds are custom mixed they also have animal protein and the breeder mix has extra vitamin A D E and Fatty Acids.

The reason is that Purina uses a additive to cover up the smell, most likely Yucca.
Manna Pro was the first to add Yucca in there Rabbit Pellets then Purina picked up on the idea kind of like how they copied the all flock feed (flock raiser) idea off of Buckeye and there Big 4 feed.
