So what *is* he?

Growing into their adult plumage, my beautiful babies are about 11 and 9 weeks respectively and a bit scruffy from molting—but what breed is this gorgeous male? Any guesses? As far as I know they only had Swedish, Runners and Pekins. Maybe a mallard looking runner got mixed with a Swedish? You can see the green head feathers just starting to come in. He was totally black as a baby, beaks, feet and all. I still have no idea?

Not a runner. He would be upright. I would guess a mallard or rouen

looks like my boy, we never figured out his breed but we suspect dark khaki rouen mix. he was also completely black as a baby, and looked like this before he molted. i can post some adult pictures of him if you’d like

He definitely doesn’t walk like the other 2 runners, he’s chunky and waddly like the Pekin male. But I don’t know of any mallards or Rouens near the area we got him? Maybe they did have and just didn’t mention it...

I'd wager he's going to grow into a bright green head and you'll find a handsome mallard/rouen boy one morning.

he was almost as big as his pekin brothers (bigger than a rouen, but smaller than a pekin) and super protective of them. i’m not sure if breed has anything to do with personality, but he was super sweet and my baby

I really am surprised how beautiful his plumage is turning out, would not have expected this from what he looked like as a baby!
