I've never been much on makeup and the older I get the less I ever wear it. Even in the '80's the time of big hair and bigger makeup and shoulders I didn't wear much unless I was on stage or doing public speaking and the lights really made me look bad. My biggest fear is to put on a ton of makeup and be killed in accident. They'll think I always look like a clown and bury me that way!
I don't have any pics on this computer I lost them all on my laptop's crash but I'm not wearing any in my avatar.
I wore it in high school and a bit in college. At around 20 I developed a severe allergic reaction to it, my eyes would turn into Darth Maul's
It must be something in the binder, because it was all brands of eye makeup or foundation/powder. Now I can't imagine wearing it, and I honestly don't know very many women who wear it regularly around here. DH told me years ago that he thinks women in makeup look silly, and I know for a fact that when I wore it that I did look silly in it
Now I'm getting pretty fancy if I put on the tinted Burts Bees chapstick.
When I visited my sister in CA last year, she started laughing as we left the house to run to the grocery store. She told me that it was because it actually crossed her mind "I hope Angie doesn't mind going to the store with me when I have no make up on" and then remembered who she was with
Here's my avatar, 36 and natural. I'm starting to wrinkle and I kind of like it
My uncle in New Brunswick Canada owned 2 sardine boats. We used to go every year for 2 weeks when we were kids for Dad's vacation, and go out on Uncle Ernie's boat for a day. It was a blast! He'd pull up beside a wier ( A big net, where the sardines and whatever else was trapped after tide out) and a guy would get in a dingy, and "sound" the wier with a plumb-bob. He could tell pretty close how many sardines, or "hogsheads" (30 gallon barrels) were in the net. Then they'd run a huge tube / vacumn in the net as they drew the net up to collect the fish. Every now and then you'd see a big cod, that they'd grab as the net got smaller and smaller and toss it out. The sardines were sucked through the tube, through a "de-scaler" and the scales went into 30 gallon barrels (hogsheads)that looked like a thick, sparkly soup. and the fish went into the "hold". "course us bieng kids, and curious, we'd run our arms into the scale soup and see it change our skin tone to glitter! Real pretty, as there are many colors in a sardines scale. Well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,guess where the scales went??? What do you suppose makes all that makeup shine and sparkle??? Need I say more??? Fish scales aren't the main ingredient in makeup, but they're a huge part. Far be it from me to hesitate to kiss a pretty woman all gussied up,,,,,,,,,,,,,but I sure am glad they put them SWEET smells and flavor enhancers in all that purdy paint they sell,,,,,,,,,,,,,ain't you???

I don't like the way makeup feels on my skin either. It just feels heavy to me. Sometimes I wear the powdered makeup(is it bare essentials?) because it feels lighter but most of the time, I would rather not bother.
Here in the south, I know a few women who consider any woman who doesn't put on makeup to be 'not taking care of herself.' I have heard that a few times. In fact I had a aunt who asked me why I didn't take care of myself like my cousin. I was dressed neatly, jogged daily and was clean but because I went without makeup she assumed that something was wrong with me.
I don't wear make up (since college). For some reason, it just irritates the heck out of my eyes & skin. I like make up on other people, if it enhances beauty/make people feel good. I like the artistry of it.
Love the fish scale story.....I'm still partial to sparkly nail polish, I just don't have time for the maintenance......
Since I'm 40, I thought I'd better post a pic (here I am giving myself those cute smile-wrinkles):
I wear sunscreen, but I ski a lot, so the brown spots are starting to catch up with me - I'll wear those and the smile-wrinkles as badges of honor and happiness.
I hate pictures of me in general, but who doesn't? Last year I found a great makeup company that sells very inexpensive makeup and started wearing it almost daily for classes. During the summer I sweat a lot so I have a hard time wearing it (And I'm usually covered in mud and wiping my face with my shirt...attractive, eh? LOL) This year I've worn it a few times, but I've gotten lazy about it. I usually only wear some eye shadow, eye liner and mascara, so its not that much. It does seem to make a difference though.
Here's my non-makeup pic after I was awarded first place by my niece in a coloring contest LOL
Cringe, I really hate pictures of myself, but here's one with a little bit of makeup on:
If only I could learn how to actually pluck my brows properly! They always come out uneven LOL
I guess I hate pictures of myself because I always smile and it scrunches up my chin and makes me look like I have two or three of them. When I'm not smiling my face doesn't look so scrunched. I also don't look so friendly either. LOL
