So, Who names their Duck House!

So, where in Me. are you? Shelburne in just a few miles pass Gilead and Sunday River. I've enjoyed the names and thoughts of everyone! We work w/ a slightly cheaper pocket. We tear down homes, sheds or garages and recycle the lumber. We changed a 2 bdrm1 floor home into 4 bdrm 2 story 1 1/2 bath. That changed our 18,000. home into a 85,000. sale! and we have done the same to this one! We call it Home lol

Our poultry house started with my brother stopping by with old lumber on the back of his truck 1" x 8-12" x 5-14' long and me saying what are you doing with it... he said I dunno and I said, wanna sell it?
$40.00 and some 2x4's and I had a floor!
I'm north of Bangor, near old town/milford. We live in a township... was a town when I was a kid but not now.
I grew up in maine then moved for a while. When I had a child, I decided I didn't want her being raised in the city.
Now she has chickens, ducks, guineas, a dog, kitties... something she wouldn't have living in the city with a tiny fenced in yard.
Our house is total chaos half the time, but wouldn't trade it!
I am currently trying to occupy my mind so I don't touch the pipping eggs. I think I need my fingers slapped cause they're itching to touch em!!

We're of the same mind! Cheap! And proud of it. My hubby used to spend his summers in Millinonocket. We've been to Bangor but that is a ways away! I went in to check on my Sofie, she's not eating nor drinking. I hope it's cuz her eye is swollen and she can't see. I put the bowl at her beck for a min. but she didn't move. I sat w/ her for 10 min. and she did nothing. I hope tomorrow she's better! I hope she's not blind. Dam raccoon!

We lost a couple chickens and 3 guineas to a stupid weasel this winter. I had no idea what was happening to them! Then one night around 11pm I opened the kitchen window for a minute and heard a guinea screaming. Grabbed my daughter's Malamute and out we went. I opened the house and the guinea's head was near the floor, It was hanging from it's neck! Didn't let go til it saw the dog! We never saw it again after that or had any more problems! Good doggie! And the guinea was fine.
We do have raccoons around here that like to eat eggs, but have never had them try to get at any of the birds. Not sure why?

The raccoon ate from the bum hole to the rib cage and all the organs. Oh and her eyes. So it surprised me to see Sofie w/ 1 eye gone and the other the feathers were gone and gouged her eye. The rest of her seems fine. I checked her over.
Hubby heard the girls at 9:10pm and he went out w/. the spot lite and BB bat. He got a few hits in them somehow caught it w/ the pitch fork and went in for his 22 revolver and shot it cuz it was still alive! 25 pds so he says and he's really good at weights and measures. So I hope he doesn't have a family somewhere close by. He got in between a joist that the chicken wire was loose. Not now! And we have those blinking eye lights going. Some help that was!

I do hope she's okay! I know how much we love our animals. I'm rooting for you Sofie!

For two years now in the early spring we get a juvenile fox, I'm assuming mama kicks em out when she's ready for babies. They will show up in the daytime and try to run and grab. The first year we had an Americana with half her tail gone and a sore rump, another black chicken with some missing feathers and a Call duck that just disappeared .
Dogs are great!
My Malamute is just not agile enough or mean. This year I splurged with our tax return and bought a Belgian Tervuren. She's 5 months old now and I'm hoping she'll be able to give them a run for their money come next spring!
Being raised with all the chickens ducks etc running around makes her think they're hers. She just loves Mr. Magoo (my avatar) though the duck tries to eat the poor dogs ears!

Well, we had to let her go last night. Arnd 6 pm I went to see her and her tongue was hanging out and she went w/o food or water so I couldn't make her go on much longer. She would let me pick her up she just wasn't into it.

So now I need a few more to take my mind off of them. Good layers but not RIR. Don't like their attitude. Have 2 already.

My pekins are loving me now that I'm into peas. Come afternoon I go up w/ my Mothers Day p(Tablet) he found on eBay a 10.1 for 250. refurbished. I sit and play w/ it and slowly hand out peas. I HAVE to have a towel w/ me! lol But I truly would of loved a girl.
I tease hubby and say I'm getting a Sebastopol goose!I can't spell it. Like that would happen. Way to much money. Plus, he says no diapers. Meaning they can't live inside.

I think I would get one. I'd like to get some geese.

Now I have to think of some replacements. Gone but truly not forgotten!
I'd like some chickens or GIRL ducks or try my hand at geese. The Sevastopol!!! Wow. But I can go for a buff. I know I spelled it wrong. It's a hard name to remember!

Do you have any hints on some good layers or on geese and such!

These are all great names! My chicken coop is called Hunt’s Happy Hen House (my last name being Hunt). I built a dust bath station out of four painted tires and called it Tranquillity Dust Day Spa. We’re about to get three ducklings and I was trying to come up with a name. Maybe Dancing Duck Day Spa? But I thought Waddle Inn was so cute and funny. Might go with that instead. Thanks for these great suggestions!
