Father: purebred black copper marans (no reason to believe he's another other than purebred)
Mother: leghorn/Easter egger cross- she's white/bearded
Chick: feather legged, bearded and is surprisingly barred

I am assuming the barring is because of a recessive trait from the mother that would make this chick....male? Thanks in advance to anyone who explains this to me lol. I have a very basic understanding of genetics and was expecting a white chick from this pairing.

It's a male. The barring comes from the White Leghorn line being hidden by dominant white
 
I'll snap a pic of the baby in a little bit so that you can actually see it. But this pic has the white mother and bcm father.
