Soap Makers Help!

I want to learn how to do both. I haven't tried it yet and I really want to I just want to make sure I know what to do first. I'll try coloring the whole soap first and then the swirling. Thanks so much for your help with this.

I really liked the pink clay I got from te health food store. Made a very nice shade. I'll take a picture if you want, but I've used the bar so it's not all nice and new looking. I gave the other three away.

It sounds great. Your health food store had it? I'll have to look at our health food store and see if they sell the clay suff. I'm going to try do the cinnamon thing tonight. Pics would be great. I could use as much help as possible lol.

Ours had several different clays in the bulk tubs. I got benonite clay( think that's how it's spelled)and french red and white clay (no green though

A little bit goes a long way and I really like the feel it adds to the soap. I'm going to do another one with pink clay and scent it with raspberry fragrance.

Here is a picture of my bar. I used aloe as my liquid and it gave the white part a bit of a yellow tent I wasn't really happy with.

I have a picture of my cinnamon bar, but not of me making it. I saw a picture tutorial on swirling somewhere, I'll dig it back up and send it to you. Here is a picture of my cinnamon swirl. The color isn't as dark as I would like, but I didn't want to make it scratchy.

I like it. I'll look at my health food store and see if they have any clay. So far I have been sticking to very simple soaps and I really want to do more. I really like the idea of using the cinnamon and maybe paprika and other natural things to make colors in the soaps.

Yes, I've made egg soap. You only want to use the egg yolk in your soap.

You need to 'temper' the beaten egg soap before adding it to your soap pot.

To temper:

beat the egg yolk, pour a small amount of traced soap into egg yolk. stir well, pour a bit more of the trace soap into egg mixture, stir well.

What you are trying to do is get the temperature of the egg yolks slowly up to the temp of the soap before you add it to the soap pot.

If you don't, you'll get cooked egg yolks in your soap!

MullersLaneFarm- Do you think the egg added anything extra to the soap? How many egg yokes for a 4 pound batch?

chiknwhisperer- Can't wait to see your cinnamon soap! And congrats on selling more soap! Hope you get that $10 soon.
